so you wanna talk about setting up a home server? I'm just planning to do that
I have been running ubuntu on my server for quite some time and experimented a lot with it. I don't like it anymore, so it's basically only a Tor-relay today, but it doesn't actually do stuff for me. (it's a cheap, low power intel atom board)
I plan to set up clean, fresh headless Debian stable and a classic LAMP with SSL
(i never set that up before, that'd be a totally awesome topic for you guys (for me))
OpenXCAP (if you're using VoIP, you appreciate that)
ejabberd (just in case)
A nice web-RSS reader (?) or even EyeOS?
A Diaspora node (low priority until an official beta-phase starts)
