 Sector space thoughts
1. Sector space should feel more organic (eg., less artificial). Going from one sector to another shouldn't be defined by lines in space or a confirmation dialogue. It should be as it is in WoW. When you cross from Elwynn Forest to Darkshire, you go over a bridge and all of the sudden the sky gets darker and the background music changes. To do this in ST:O would probably require redoing a bunch of the underlying game mechanics and for that reason is probably unlikely to happen.
2. Sector space should ideally be 3-dimensional. The Milky Way is arranged as a disk, it's true, but it's not completely flat. Adding sectors above and below would give the developers more places to "put" content and, if you'll excuse the phrase, it would add depth to the game.
3. I agree that there should be an optional representation of sector space on the bridge. You could go to your bridge, say, "Set a course for Kessik IV. Best Speed. Engage." and walk to the aft section of your bridge, where there is a holographic representation of sector space over a map table (I'm thinking of the small circular tables in the back of the larger Fed bridges) or on your main viewer or on a console - whatever floats your boat.
4. Make the travel through sector space worthwhile: Give me something else to do while I'm en route from one system to another - this was covered pretty well in the last STO:ked podcast, IMO.
5. Give us more places to go: The ST:O devs have said that they didn't want to open up new maps until there was something for us to do there. On this point I must respectfully part company from our thoughtful and considerate devs. Space is vast. I want there to be TONS of places I can go where there is nothing to do. If I have a mission on Gamma Orionis IV, I want to have to approach a star system, consider the map of that star system and travel at low warp from the outer planets to Gamma Orionis IV. Maybe there are bad guys on the way. Maybe there's an entirely new mission there. Maybe it's just a bunch of rocks. Maybe there are alien mining colonies in the asteroids. I don't care -- that's the point of exploration, isn't it?
Thank you for your time and consideration.

 Re: Sector space thoughts
To make space more vast all they have to do is create solar maps where a system or systems are represented. I know that they talked about adding planets, this would be the way. One of the things that mad SWG fun was having specific points of interest like Ceti Alpha 6 with a continuous sand storm. In the sand storm is the abandoned Botany Bay. Also adding in our planets in our Solar system might be interesting. I.E, Jupiter, Mars (Utopia Planetia) That would be a great place to show off upcoming ships in space dock. Giving you more places to beam to like on Earth (Star Fleet Academy at minimum. I would say move all respecs to Earth at the academy and training missions.
