frouse wrote: I would grab the video versions if I had unlimited traffic, but I don't, so it's mp3 for me. Gives me something to listen to on my walk to work too My situation is similar. I don't have the patience to download the videos, so I collect the ogg audio versions (because I am rocking the freedom) and listen to them on my walks to and from work (along with other podcasts that shall remain nameless) on my Sansa Fuze (Rockboxed, naturally).

I use a external DVDRW drive to record my shows. Epson discproducer pp-100 is pretty solid.

I go the audio route, MP3. Download to my n900 using gPodder and the unlimitted T-Mobile data plan.

Re: POLL: What's your preferred way to catch new episodes, audio
For the last few years, I've had the same setup. I've written about in in the forums even as far back as the Vanilla forums days.
I use an online service (previously PodNova, now myGpodder) to keep my subscription list and a script (like Bashpodder but better) that downloads the OPML from the service every night and updates my podcasts directory.
Another script runs when I put my microsd card in the system - it rsyncs the podcasts over to it. Then I listen on my phone with an a2dp bluetooth headset.

I wait for LAS to show up in my youtube subscriptions then head to the site, wget the HD verision, let it download a bit, a watch in SMPlayer as it downloads.
So pretty much just wget. I'm not doing the fancy auto RSS downloads yet.

GPodder - A must have for long commutes to work. Only rarely does the envy of not being able to see what makes you laugh creep in.

Re: POLL: What's your preferred way to catch new episodes, audio
I usualy use the Ipod video format.....
reason I do is I like to download the video to my pc so I know I wont get lag when I choose to watch it, and the ipod video format is the smallest format there, and as far as I can tell it is decent quality.
As for viewing I use vlc I am also curious about a post on the 1st page. Why use a script to convert using ffmpeg? ffmpeg is simple if you don't want any advanced options.... ffmpeg -i input.format output.format for example ffmpeg -i video.ogv video.mov will convert from ogv to mov, and if you want any advanced options you have far more flexibility under ffmpeg direct
