 STOked!
Great podcast guys. Really enjoyed the show and looking forward to seeing where we go with the game and the show! I'll await the STO Fleet forum with interest

 Re: STOked!
woot! thanks, Beladan.
We've had some trouble with the forum's software lately, so haven't been able to rearrange things as we'd please just yet. Til we do, this forum (CastaBlasta) is a great place to discuss anything game-related.

 Re: STOked!
Jupiter Fleet, eh? Woot!
As for feedback (I can't get to facebook @ work), I dig the video show format and, provided you can fix the chromakey issue and not sound like a bunch of rabid scotsmen every time someone decides to talk with their hands, I would vote for videoing them all. Really like that format.
Anyway, again - great show. So glad I tripped over your post in the forums. Add in the fact that you also have a beer show and I'm in drunken nerd heaven!

 Re: STOked!
Really dunno what was up with the chroma last night. We've never had that issue before.
Our plan is to mainly do full-fledged video versions of STOked only once we have gameplay footage to show. We had enough requests for video after the first episode though, that I think we'll also do a "behind the scenes" version like this one, now and then. Probably every-other episode, or so.

 Re: STOked!
The sound issues are not related to the Chroma Key, but to the computer's disk I/O queue stacking up, and then not writing data to the video file fast enough, so frames are dropped.
The streaming computer has to send 24 frames per second to ustream, compressing them on the fly and laying in the audio track. While at the same time saving 24fps to the hard drive in an entirely different video codec (more CPU intensive, which flash is already very intense).
So we have to walk a quality line, keep dropping the quality to give the computer more head room.. But its still not low enough.. The problem is, I don't want to go any lower! LOL
We need a new rig doing that job, I mean.. The one we have in there now is a Quad Core Core 2 2.66Ghz, so not bad.. But not a beast.. It has 4GBs of RAM and it has multiple hard drives for the different operations.. But I think the SATA controller on that box is just not that fast. Plus I need to spend sometime tweaking and optimizing it for performance. But really, I want to be shooting better video, and we're just not really gonna get there with that hardware. NEED MORE POWA!

 Re: STOked!
Ya, for shame! I was hoping they'd feature our video... Would be a great early push for STOked to really pick up some audience. S'ok though! We got more up our sleeves! -Chris

 Re: STOked!
A posting over @ N4G.com reads... "Free Star Trek Online Costume With Series 3 Box Set". Well, technically it's not a 'free' costume, because you have to buy a Blu-ray box set of Star Trek: The Original Series, Season 3... those folks over @ Paramount are always thinking ways to sell their wares.
